In the summer of 2021, I had torn my ACL during soccer practice, keeping me bedridden and physically handicapped for my whole summer. While it greatly disappointed me, as I had many hopes and ideas, I decided to make the best use of my time by helping my community right from my bed. I started the Computer For Kids project to buy laptops for underprivileged kids. To do so, I created a flyer that I passed out utilizing various social media apps like WhatsApp and Twitter. With positive word of mouth, I was able to get the word out in my community which supported me greatly in this endeavor. In addition, I started teaching three classes to raise money: SAT Prep, Math, and Java coding. All three classes were a success as I created a curriculum, marketed my class, and got to teach over 40 students in total. I was able to raise close to $1000 and got another $1000 from the donations I received from my community and social media. I used the $2000 to buy 7 laptops for the West Chester YMCA who were extremely grateful for my acts of kindness.
In my Networking and telecommunications course, I was tasked with the project of creating a network design (including costs, equipment, and a diagram) for a live-streaming sports event. I collaborated with four of my peers and we combined conducted over 100 hours of research. In this project, I was a driving factor that guided my peers to create an outstanding product. I not only conducted research on the designs and details of network topology, but I also designed both our physical and logical topology, created a budget for our network, identified the intricacies of performance metrics like throughput and latency, and documented all our findings on published reported submitted to our professors.
